White Lake and Giggling Grape set to host Cheese & Wine Supper

White Lake Cheese near Shepton Mallet and Giggling Grape in Castle Cary have announced details of a special cheese and wine pairing event on Friday 2 October. Taking place at the Grade II listed Market House in the centre of Castle Cary from 7.30pm to 10pm, the Cheese & Wine Supper will be co-hosted by White Lake founder, Roger Longman, and Giggling Grape owner, Caroline Sharley, who will bring their extensive expertise, experience and unwavering enthusiasm to the tasting table.

During this epic evening of wine and cheese, Roger will introduce guests to his four newest cheeses, with Caroline presenting a surprising selection of pairings to accompany each one. Cheesemaking stories will be shared and pairing rules will be broken as Roger and Caroline work through four courses, all accompanied by platters of local breads, chutneys, crackers, dried fruits and nuts.

Attendees can look forward to pairings including; The English Pecorino Fresco paired with a Guado al Tasso Vermentino 2025 from Tuscany; Tuppence, a sheep’s milk Crottin-style cheese, paired with a Babich Classics Pinot Noir 2023 from New Zealand; a new brie-style cheese named Glastonbrie paired with a 2023 Darriaud Côtes du Rhône Villages; and Persian Gold, a lactic cheese-in-a-jar drenched in rapeseed oil infused with garlic, basil, and marjoram, paired with a Mandrarossa, Nero d’Avola 2024 from Sicily.

Fresh from an incredible run of award-wins, including two Great Taste 3-star awards, three major trophies at the British & Irish Cheese Awards, two major trophies at the Artisan Cheese Awards, and the title of Supreme Champion at The Mid-Somerset Show, White Lake Cheese will be bringing some of the county’s finest cheeses to Castle Cary for this special one-off tasting experience.

The Cheese & Wine Supper with White Lake Cheese and Giggling Grape will take place on Friday 2 October from 7:30pm – 10pm at Market House, Market Place, Castle Cary BA7 7BG. Tickets cost £35 and can be purchased from tickettailor.com/events/gigglinggrape.
