Devon Distillery are pleased to announce the launch of Dappa Dark Fire

Devon Distillery are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new product. Dappa Dark Fire is the first aged grape marc spirit to be produced in the UK, by Devon Distillery.

Dappa 2018 is an award winning spirit in its own right having won a number of awards in 2019. The team has taken this bold spirit and aged it in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry barrel for 12 months allowing the cask to lend its deep oak flavours to the youthful liquor.

The new spirit has gone down a storm at the Great Taste Awards, having received a star in its first year of production. Dappa Dark Fire has “aromas of raisin, straw and hazelnut. The alcohol is well handled to create a smooth drinking grape marc with good balance and some warming, dried fruit flavours.” – Great Taste Judge.

Whilst another said “Pleasant autumnal fruits/forest floor flavours but with some alcohol showing through. The alcohol is handled very well, leaving room for stone fruit notes along with the classic autumnal leaf flavours. Simple but well made.” – Great Taste Judge

Cosmo Caddy, has alcohol production in his DNA, his grandfather being the founder of Sharphams Vineyard. In 2012 Cosmo founded the Devon Distillery becoming the first producer of Grape Marc spirit in the UK. He went on to become the first licenced mobile distiller with his ‘Still on the Move’ a 1972 VW Pickup Truck aptly named Ginny. Devon Distillery is now able to offer a wider range of spirits productions on site, offering contract distilling services, from a single bottle, small batch, to much larger quantities.
