Lockdown sales spike for Pentire

Cornwall’s first non-alcoholic spirit brand has reported a surge in sales during lockdown as people make healthier choices. Pentire, which is made by distilling a unique range of plants native to the Cornish coastline, saw its sales increase fourfold.

Founder Alistair Frost said: “Pentire is a premium product in an emerging sector, so like many companies, we didn’t know what to expect when we went into lockdown.

“Our sales since day one have been very multi-channel. We sell through a good balance of bars, restaurants, high-end retail such as Harrods and Daylesford, and online – which has been essential for a product mostly consumed in the home.”

The company has ambitious ideas for future growth, including plans to expand every element of the business – growing its team, product range, working with new customers both nationally and internationally, and driving the non-alcoholic sector as a whole.

Pentire is the highest rated non-alcoholic spirit on Trustpilot, and is also loved by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who described it as the “most delicious non-alcoholic drink”.

Alistair continued: “Our sales are really encouraging, and show that more people are looking to make healthier lifestyle choices. I feel the last six months has solidified the no and low sector, as consumers have been trying alternatives to alcoholic drinks during lockdown, which has made them more aware of our industry.

“It is great reading stories from our customers about new outdoor challenges they are setting themselves, or how they are cutting down on alcohol to channel their time and energy into exercise and becoming more healthy.

“We are all about coastal adventure, and it’s our passion for the outdoors which lead us to create Pentire – developing a delicious drink to enjoy as a healthier choice, knowing there are far more adventurous and exciting things out there than alcohol.”

Pentire is preparing for a busy winter, with Christmas gifting and Dry January opening up new audiences and opportunities for consumers to discover the no and low sector. Inspired by a love of coastal living and an active lifestyle, the company donates 10% of its online sales to sea conservation charities, such as Blue Marine Foundation.

A 70cl bottle of Pentire Adrift is available for £26.80 online at pentiredrinks.com, where there is also a collection of gift boxes and gifting options featuring Fever-tree tonic water available.
