Rock-based Sharp’s Brewery has just announced the internal appointment of Donna Breakspear to the role of Head of Supply Chain following a rigorous recruitment process.
Donna has been with Sharp’s Brewery for just over six years in a Human Resources capacity and has excelled in her role. She joined in 2015 as the company’s HR Business Partner based in Cornwall and in 2020 was promoted to a Molson Coors position as UK Regional Operations HR Business Partner. Molson Coors is now the owner of Sharp’s and within this UK-wide role, Donna has been pivotal in the provision of ongoing regional HR support to ‘sibling’ breweries including Burtonwood, Hop Stuff, Sharp’s, Tadcaster Breweries as well as Aspall Cyder – all part of the Molson Coors network.
Over the past twelve months, Donna has been intrinsic to the morale of the team at the brewery in Rock, as well as across all of the other regional breweries. She has played a vital role in supporting the team through its network integration journey and successfully accelerated the driving forward of the team’s significant change projects, all whilst ensuring the company continues to put people first, especially throughout the challenges and uncertainties of the global pandemic.
As Head of Supply Chain, Donna will now support on leading Sharp’s Brewery through the site’s next phase, its post pandemic recovery journey and launch of World Class Supply Chain 2.0 (WCSC 2.0) to improve all areas of operations. The overarching aim of World Class Supply Chain 2.0 (WCSC 2.0) is to ensure better efficiency in the brewery’s facilities; from water usage, process improvements, capacity optimisation, eliminating losses across operations and recovering clean water for reuse.
Donna succeeds Andrew Madden in this position who has moved onto pastures new in Scotland. Andrew moved into the Head of Supply Chain role back in 2019 following a career as Head Brewer at Sharp’s – a position which is now occupied by Aaron McClure.
Neil Haywood, UK Regional Operations Director for Molson Coors said, “I am delighted to appoint Donna into the Head of Supply Chain role for Sharp’s Brewery. Donna’s passion for the brewery in Rock, the brands and the team make her the ideal leader to take the site forward. Donna’s experience working with the wider UK Regional Operations Team has helped build knowledge and relationships that will support everyone at Sharp’s on our exciting next phase.”
Sharp’s Commercial Director, Dai Griffiths continued, “I am absolutely delighted that Donna has been successful in her application for this key role, back full-time with us, here in Rock. This forms an exciting new chapter in her career and is fantastic news for all of us at the brewery – it’s safe to say we’re in very capable hands. I know this is a sentiment shared across the whole site”.
Donna Breakspear said, “I’m very excited about my new role, ‘back at home’ at Sharp’s Brewery. I have worked with the team in Rock for a number of years in different capacities and I can safely say there is a unique energy and passion that runs through the core of the team which I am thrilled to become a full-time part of again. Given the effects of the past twelve months, it is a really important time for the brewery, and we have a key set of objectives that I am looking forward to hitting, with a solid and extremely experienced team alongside me. I look forward to making an impact on shaping the future of Sharp’s and helping build on the great work that Andrew and the team have done to date”.
