Two new rums and a host of awards for Cornwall’s Rosemullion Distillery

Rosemullion Distillery, which is based on The Helford in Cornwall, launched its White Rum and Dark Rum in May, which are both available via direct sale and to trade customers. The launch coincides with the distillery coming away with 13 awards in the internationally- recognised SIP Awards, where it won a double gold, three golds, two silvers, an Innovation Award, and six Consumers’ Choice Awards.

Andy Bradbury, co-founder of Rosemullion Distillery, said: “Our Spiced Rum, Gold Rum and Chocolate Rum have already got great reputations amongst our customers as being beautifully unique spirits which are best enjoyed neat or with a simple mixer. Over the past year, however, we have received a number of requests to create a rum which is best enjoyed as the base to a cocktail, whether that’s for a party at home, or a staple ingredient at a bar or restaurant. We are very excited to have expanded our range to include two new rums specifically for cocktails.”

New cocktail rums launched:

  • At 43% ABV, Rosemullion’s White Rum is supple and luxurious with a smooth finish. Excellent for mixing, it has been distilled specifically for cocktails such as a Daiquiri, Mojito, or Piña colada.
  • Rosemullion’s Dark Rum, 40% ABV, carries a light spice and botanical flavour, which works well in a Dark & Stormy. A smooth, easy drinking rum, it is lightly sweetened, with deeper notes coming from the source molasses.

Both rums are distilled in small, 200-bottle batches to retain their essential flavours, with cocktail recipes and serving suggestions becoming available on the Rosemullion Distillery website in the coming weeks.

13 SIP Awards for Rosemullion
The launch of the two new rums has coincided with Rosemullion’s recent award wins in the 2021 SIP Awards. Based in California, the award scheme is open to businesses across the globe, and is the only true blind-tasting competition to enlist consumers as judges.

Rosemullion Distillery won 13 medals in total, including a double gold for its Harvest Gin. At 40% ABV, it is an autumnal gin made with apples and plums from the distillery’s orchard, and infused with blackberries, raspberries, and sloes.

In the flavour/ infused gin category, Rosemullion’s Summer Gin and Seafarer’s Gin achieved a gold and silver medal respectively, while its Dry Gin came away with a gold in the Gin category.

Rosemullion’s Spiced Rum was awarded gold in the Spiced Rum category, having recently been named a Style Winner in the 2020 World Rum Awards and ‘Best Rum’ in the Great British Food Awards.

Each of the above products also won a Consumers’ Choice Award, which is reserved for spirits which have placed in the SIP Awards for two or more years.

The distillery’s Chocolate Rum, which at 40% ABV is aged with chocolate, raspberry and mango, came away with a silver medal in the flavour/ infused rum category, and an Innovation Award for its unique taste profile.

Andy continued: “These awards have come at a pivotal time for our small family-run distillery, as they reinforce the quality of our spirits amongst both our trade and direct customers, and give us the confidence to experiment as we further expand our product range. We are excited to see what the next few months will bring for Rosemullion, and look forward to announcing some interesting collaborations with local businesses in the coming weeks.”

About Rosemullion Distillery
Based in south Cornwall, Rosemullion Distillery was created by husband and wife team Andy and Liz Bradbury, who, with more than 45 years’ combined experience as chemists, wanted to combine their scientific knowledge and processes with a passion for quality spirits.

Since launching in 2019, Rosemullion has won more than 50 international awards, and inspired by its beautiful surroundings, is one of a very small number of distilleries which creates its own base spirit from scratch using molasses, grain, sugar, and Cornish rainwater.

Rosemullion Distillery’s full range of spirits, which includes four gins, five rums, and a seasonal spirit, can be purchased online via the distillery’s web shop. The distillery also supplies bars, restaurants, hotels, and retail outlets throughout South West England. Trade enquiries can be made via the website, or by emailing enquiries@rosemulliondistillery.com.
