Hattiers Rum now stocked in Waitrose & Partners

Britain’s first B Corp rum, Hattiers Rum, has secured a rare listing for its range of fine blended aged rums in one of the country’s most exclusive grocers, Waitrose & Partners. Hattiers Rum is now stocked in over 100 stores across the UK as well as on waitrosecellar.com.

The three premium aged rums in the portfolio are blended by Hattiers, in South Devon, using carefully selected rums from the world’s finest distillers. From today ‘Egremont’ and ‘Eminence’ are listed in over 100 stores and ‘Resolute’ listed in seven stores.

Commenting on the new listings, Philip Everett-Lyons, founder and CEO of Hattiers Rum, says: “When we established in 2017 our aim was to create the finest British blended rums from an ethical and transparent company and to see Hattiers on the shelves of Waitrose, a company that shares our core values. It’s incredible to think we have achieved these goals during this short time and people can now walk into a Waitrose & Partners store and pick up a bottle of Hattiers Rum.”

Philip continues: “With a 140% increase in premium rum sales in just five years and a strong forecast for growth ahead, there is a real opportunity in this sector in the UK*. We are champions of real rum by challenging the misunderstood perception of rum. It is important to us that we source the finest barrel aged rums which are not spiced, sugared, or adulterated with extra colour to appear older. Every rum is aged at the source distillery to benefit from tropical maturation in ex-bourbon casks.  Once blended, we marry our multi-award-winning rums with our local Dartmoor water.  Naturally filtered by layer upon layer of ancient granite, the creamy Dartmoor water balances our blends perfectly, whilst adding to our signature creamy finish that you find in ‘Egremont’,‘Eminence’ and ‘Resolute’.”

The three rums stocked in Waitrose & Partners are: ‘Eminence’ – a blended aged white rum (£37.50, 42% ABV) which was awarded Gold at this year’s International Wine &  Spirit Competition scoring an impressive 95 out of a possible 100;  ‘Egremont’ – a Blended Aged Premium Reserve Rum (£40.00, 40% ABV); and ‘Resolute’ – a Blended Aged Navy Strength Rum (£52.00, 54.5% ABV).

Established in 2017, Hattiers Rum was the brainchild of entrepreneur Philip Everett-Lyons after he and his wife moved back home to the beautiful South Hams in Devon. As rum and fine spirit lovers, yacht racers and fuelled by a passion for life at sea, Hattiers Rum was born.

In early November 2020, Hattiers Rum officially became B Corp certified, joining companies such as Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, The Jamie Oliver Group and Pip & Nut who are all ‘using business as a force for good, adhering to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and accountability.’ Hattiers Rum is delighted to be the first British B Corp Rum, making it only the second in the world to achieve this status. Plastic free from day one and a carbon negative workforce, Hattiers is an ethical brand, who care about the integrity of their rum and is currently planting their own woodland.

In addition to Waitrose & Partners, Hattiers Rum is also stocked in Harvey Nichols, Master of Malt, Fortnum & Mason, The Whisky Exchange, Enotria & Coe and Drink Finder. Wholesale listings include Cotswold Fayre, Tolchards, Enotria & Coe, Diverse Fine Foods, Speciality Drinks, Regency Wines and Matthew Clarke (via Master of Malt).
