Hall & Woodhouse buy Minehead’s iconic harbourside pub

Dorset-based brewer and pub operator Hall & Woodhouse has acquired The Old Ship Aground in Minehead, Somerset. The Grade-II listed harbourside pub was purchased off a guide price of £895,000 from Julian and Rachael Abraham in a deal brokered by Christie & Co.

Located along the South West coastal path adjacent to Minehead harbour, the three-storey building dates to 1911 and includes external seafront seating and an open plan bar. It boasts 12 en-suite letting bedrooms.

Bought at auction in 2013 by the Abrahams, who previously owned a restaurant in Bath, they have put it up for sale to start a new project.

Mark James, property director at Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Julian and Rachael Abraham have created a fantastic business at the Old Ship Aground. We are excited to welcome the pub into the Hall & Woodhouse family and have no doubt that it will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Stephen Champion, director in Christie & Co’s hospitality team handled the sale and said: “The Old Ship Aground is an iconic business along the Minehead seafront and we are delighted to have brokered its sale to Hall & Woodhouse. We look forward to seeing them secure new tenants for the business and carry out the plans they have installed for its future.”

Hall & Woodhouse was founded in Dorset in 1777 and operates 180 pubs and inns in the south of England.
