Catering businesses prove a popular choice for business buyers

The property market continues to boom throughout 2021 and throughout the course of the year EMF have been delighted to see a good number of catering transactions safely over the finishing line.

Amongst those businesses to recently complete are Toast – a high street café and patisserie situated in the market town of Honiton. The purchaser of Toast had used EMFs services to buy and sell previously; the Singing Kettle in Buckfastleigh – a freehold tea rooms on the edge of Dartmoor which sold off an asking price of £395,000; Café Piccolo – an artisan coffee shop situated in a prime position on Weymouth seafront and the Mulberry Tree Café – a community centre café based in the city of Exeter.

EMF have noted that a large percentage of newly agreed sales as well as those moving toward completion are within the catering and hospitality sectors with demand in the first half of 2021 seeming to outstrip supply. However, business owners are now taking note of the confidence in the market place and EMF are seeing an increase in businesses now ready to come to the market.

There are many reasons for people making the decision to sell their business such as retirement or family commitments but the process of selling a business is a complex one which is why it pays to instruct an agent who deals solely with the sale of businesses. Getting the marketing price right is key and there are many factors to consider when carrying out a valuation. These include the size of the premises and number of covers, business location, age and condition of equipment, lease terms, overheads, daytime or evening trading, whether there is any owner’s accommodation and trading performance.

EMF Group have been established for over 55 years and have all the knowledge and experience needed to achieve a successful sale so if you are considering selling your business, contact EMF for a free initial market appraisal. Call us on 01404 813762 or email amandabentley@emfgroup.com.
