Steel Brew Co, based in Plymouth, has moved its operations to larger premises and is hoping to open five venues across the South West.
The brewer has moved from Royal William Yard’s Melville building to Mills Bakery, utilising a space formerly occupied by the University of Plymouth’s fine art department. This relocation has seen Steel Brew expand its taproom with a capacity for up to 100 customers compared to 70 at the old location.
Co-founder Nick Palfrey told Business Live: “Our business plan focuses on opening five venues across the south west. We would be looking for a second venue in Plymouth.”
The company, which only started production during the 2020 lockdown, is also planning to supply the wholesale market by installing a canning machine to get its drinks into pubs and bottle shops.
Currently, the brewery has four tanks producing 700 litres each, every three weeks. An additional four tanks, each twice the size of the existing ones, will be added in early 2022.
