Devon based Sandford Orchards is thrilled to be working with BBC Masterchef The Professionals winner, Alex Webb to curate an evening of incredible food and cider. A six course taster menu, where each course will be paired with a special Sandford Orchards cider, hand-selected by Chief Cidermaker, Barny Butterfield, along with Alex, for the unique quality it brings to each dish.
After discovering Sandford Orchards on his trips to Devon, Alex soon became a fan. He explains: “I was already a huge admirer of Sandford Orchards, so I was thrilled when they invited me along for a tour and tasting during the harvest. All of their cider is made from fresh apple juice pressed from really interesting Devon apple varieties. The depth and complexity that they’re able to achieve as a result makes them the perfect accompaniment to food.”
Barny Butterfield, Owner and Chief Cidermaker at Sandford Orchards comments: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Alex on this event and so pleased that modern cider is finally getting the recognition it deserves as a credible alternative to wine. This is just the start of what we hope to be many more fruitful collaborations with Alex, it’s fantastic to work with someone who truly understands and appreciates the intricacies and subtleties of cider.”
Hosted at Darts Farm, Topsham, home of the Sandford Orchards Small Batch Cidery, the menu will feature fabulous Devon produce including duck from Creedy Carver, fresh seafood caught on local day boats, seasonal vegetables picked that morning, and the best local farmhouse cheeses.
The event takes place at Darts Farm on Friday 11th February at 7pm. Tickets available from: shop.dartsfarm.co.uk/collections/events/products/the-farm-table-evening?variant=42217483174109
