Susy Atkins appointed to Food Drink Devon’s board and as head drinks judge of prestigious awards

Food Drink Devon, one of the county’s leading food and drink organisations, has appointed Susy Atkins to their board of directors. Renowned national drinks writer, drinks columnist for the Sunday Telegraph and drinks editor for delicious magazine, Susy will also head up the judging of the drinks categories in the 2022 Food Drink Devon Awards, which close for entries on 22nd April.

Commenting on Susy’s appointment, Food Drink Devon chair Greg Parsons says: “We are delighted to announce that Susy has agreed to join us on the board of Food Drink Devon. Susy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the drinks industry, in addition to the invaluable perspective of an award-winning journalist who writes for a number of national titles and has worked alongside leading chefs such as James Martin, Mitch Tonks and Michael Caines MBE. She is the perfect person to head up the judging of the drinks category of our awards. With her unsurpassed experience, Susy is able to judge all entrants against the best in the industry, not just in Devon.”

Susy comments: “I am passionate about the burgeoning Devon drinks industry and thrilled to have so many talented producers on my doorstep. Having been part of the judging process for the awards for some years, I have been impressed with how much Food Drink Devon does to support its members and promote Devon as a fabulous food and drink destination. I am delighted to be able to add my skills to the talented pool of board directors and hope that I will be able to play my part in the success of this dynamic organisation.”

Susy joins the board of leading industry players, all of whom give their time and expertise for free. Susy will also head up the judging of the drinks categories and joins a select group of independent industry experts who ensure a rigorous judging process resulting in highly sought after awards. The Food Drink Devon Awards are open to all Devon-based food and drink businesses, both members and non members of the organisation and close for entries on 20th April.

Food Drink Devon is a not-for-profit membership organisation of food and drink producers, retailers, hospitality venues and related businesses dedicated to serving up the best produce from the county. With a focus on quality, sustainability and provenance, Food Drink Devon’s aim is to support and promote their members and raise Devon’s culinary profile as a whole.
