Cornish holiday company recognised amongst the best UK workplaces in travel

Leading Cornish holiday company Cornish Gems has been named among the UK’s elite Top 20 Best Workplaces in Travel 2022.

The new survey-based awards, Best Workplaces in Travel, recognises the best operators in travel – and specifically those that despite the challenges over the last 18 months, have continued to support and develop their workforce.

As the only Cornish travel company to make the shortlist, Cornish Gems is named alongside industry giants such as Kuoni, Easyjet Holidays, Panache Cruises and Intrepid.

Established by Gail Kenny Executive Recruitment and Purple Cubed, workplace culture experts; Best Workplaces in Travel is a new Awards designed to identify brilliant businesses, by asking the people who truly know – the employees.

Following an extensive employee survey questionnaire, the independently owned company achieved an impressive Staff Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 76 – 15 points ahead of the UK industry benchmark of 61 – highlighting the successful strong leadership and a very happy and engaged team at Cornish Gems.

Cornish Gems offer an impressive portfolio of over 200 beautifully appointed properties across Cornwall. Founded in 2007, the team which is made-up of 100 local people are also celebrating the company’s 15th anniversary this year.

Cornish Gems co-founder Julianne Shelton says: “We’ve had a flurry of awards over the last 6 months which makes us feel enormously proud of our achievements within the tourism sector here in Cornwall, at a time when we celebrate 15 strong years of trading. To be recognised as one of the elite top 20 companies to work for in travel within the UK is a very special accomplishment indeed. Our team truly are the Gems of our business, and we appreciate everyone’s individual contribution towards making Cornish Gems a great place to work. Over the years we’ve invested heavily to develop meaningful company values, effective leadership, and management along with creating motivating reward and recognition strategies to engage our team. This award means the world to us.”

Nadia Macer-Wright, Julianne Shelton (Cornish Gems co-founders) and Michelle Baillie (Cornish Gems Commercial Director) attended the award celebration, on May 4th, 2022, hosted at the newly opened One Hundred Shoreditch Hotel in London – where the winners were revealed.
