Rich and delicious flavours earn Flapjackery five gold awards

Devon-based Flapjackery, which is renowned for its mouth-watering gluten free flapjacks, has scooped an incredible five Taste of the West Gold awards, and its not just its flapjacks which are proving so tantalising for the judges.

It’s Chocolate Fudge attained gold alongside its Cranberry and Orange Dark Chocolate Clusters, Peanut and Raisin Milk Chocolate Clusters, Chocolate Fudge Flapjack and Summer Fruits Crumble Flapjack.

Its the first time Flapjackery’s owners Carol Myott and Sally Jenkin have entered other products alongside their flag bearing flapjacks and the business partners are delighted.

Sally said: “We won four Gold awards last year with our flapjacks, and this year decided to enter other products that we also make in our Tavistock bakery. The clusters are incredibly popular and the perfect bite sized treat. They are handmade using good quality British chocolate which is put through a tempering process and then the additions are added.”

The mouth-watering making process for the Peanut and Raisin Milk Chocolate Clusters involves adding huge, juicy raisins and salted roasted peanuts to milk chocolate and then measuring them into little mounds to set, creating the intensely moorish combination of salty and sweet in delicious milk chocolate.

Dark Chocolate Orange and Cranberry Clusters are created using dried cranberries with pieces of candied orange peel which are added to rich dark chocolate for a chewy sweet and tangy contrast.

Flapjackery was established seven years ago at Tavistock in west Devon by Carol and Sally whose mutual love of baking encouraged them to create a business that specialises in flapjacks. They now have five shops in St Ives, Plymouth, Tavistock, Minehead and Wells and a thriving online business. Their distinctive brown, gold and white Union Jack branding is a distinctive site at the many shows and events that Flapjackery’s trade stand attends across the length and breadth of the UK.

Commenting on their outstanding Taste of the West results, Carol said: “We have a great team working with Flapjackery, from those who run the shops, to the team back here in Tavistock who create such delicious products, and its testament to them, and all they do to create such a buzz around Flapjackery products that once again we’re celebrating gold-winning success. Sally and I love everything about our business, from creating new flavours, to hearing from our customers and its wonderful that our flapjacks, and our other products are so loved.”
