Bath-based Japanese restaurant, Robun, is set to host its first whisky masterclass with Nikka Whisky Distilling Co on Thursday 22 September from 7.30pm – 9.30pm. Taking a journey from the floral aromas of Nikka Days to the peaty and smoky Single Malt Yoichi, whisky connoisseurs and beginners will have the chance to taste six expressions from the Tokyo-based distillery.
Joe Prout, speciality brands whisky ambassador from Nikka Whisky, which has been producing whisky in Japan for 88 years, will lead the masterclass. Joe will deliver a potted history of Japanese whisky during the tasting, while a selection of zensai (appetisers) will be provided by Robun head chef, Jon Claro.
Tickets cost £45 per head, including a welcome drink, zensai and the sampling of six whiskies, and can be bought online at robun-events.giftpro.co.uk/events/whisky-masterclass-with-nikka-whisky-distilling-co. Whisky masterclass attendees will be able to enjoy 25% off their dinner in the restaurant on the day of the event. All attendees must be 18 or over.
Robun is a celebration of authentic Japanese food and drink. Based on George Street in Bath, the restaurant specialises in a modern take on Yakiniku – the art of grilling meat, seafood and vegetables over a traditional robata charcoal fire. The menu also incorporates sushi and sashimi, tempura, gyoza and bao buns, all served alongside an unparalleled list of sake, Japanese whisky and cocktails. Find out more at www.robun.co.uk.
