Butcombe Brewing Co has been recognised for producing one of the best beers in the UK. The Bristol-based brewery, part of Liberation Group, claimed both Gold and Country Winner in the No/Low IPA category at this year’s World Beer Awards for its Goram IPA Zero.
The low alcohol IPA, a first for Butcombe Brewing Co, was launched in summer 2021 and soon became a hit with customers. Mirroring the company’s original Goram IPA recipe, Goram IPA Zero is an easy-to-drink and refreshing ale made with a punchy blend of English, US and New Zealand hops which balance stone fruit, citrus and bitter notes. Named after Bristol’s legendary giant, Goram IPA Zero has all the strong, big flavours of a normal IPA but without the alcohol.
Marc McGuigan, Group MD, Brewing & Distribution, Liberation Group says: “Goram IPA Zero is a relatively new product for us so to earn recognition from world-renowned industry experts so soon is a huge achievement.
“This award pays testament to the quality of our products and the skill, passion and dedication of the team at Butcombe Brewing Co and I’d like to take this opportunity to raise a glass to them all.”
The World Beer Awards is globally recognised, selecting the very best of thousands of beers from all over the world and promoting these to consumers and trade across the globe. Drawing on the expertise of more than 200 international industry experts, each and every beer is rigorously judged fairly to give each brewery its best chance in the competition.
