The team behind the Independent Coffee Guides have left no doughnut unturned in the search for the best brunch dishes, luscious lunches, creative bakes and coffee-infused drinks.
The result is a curation of easy-to-recreate signature dishes from the kitchens of 40 of the UK’s hero speciality cafes and roasteries. The extensive menu also includes a healthy helping of plant-based crowd-pleasers.
A recipe book like no other, Indy Cafe Cookbook features a curated selection of signature dishes and pairing suggestions from the likes of Hundred House Coffee in Shropshire, Electric Bakery in Bude, Pelicano Coffee Co. in Brighton and Cairngorm Coffee in Edinburgh.
Each dish or drink is introduced by a double-page spread on the venue behind it, giving readers a flavour of the in-house atmosphere and ethos. Every recipe sits alongside beautiful photography of the dish or drink presented in the way the chefs serve it, a playlist suggestion and a coffee to pair it with, so readers can recreate a slice of café culture at home.
The release coincides with an increase in public interest in specialist coffee shops and the casual dining that can be experienced within them. Included with the recipes is a feature about the evolution of the speciality cafe.
Selena Young, editor of Indy Cafe Cookbook Volume 2, said: “UK cafe culture continues to diversify in thrilling ways, making independent coffee venues increasingly popular places for the public to spend their time and money. As well as a flurry of new openings and cafe incarnations – such as cafe-bakery hybrids, roastery-cafes and after-hours venues – the standard for quality food and drink experiences in these speciality spots is at an all-time high.“
Orders for the book are open now at indycoffee.guide. The book is also available to purchase in good bookshops and the featured coffee houses, RRP £20.
