The Jolly Hog announces its B Corp certification

Bristol based British meat brand, The Jolly Hog is the first UK meat company to become a B Corp, a certification which is recognised as the highest standard for social corporate responsibility. The Jolly Hog joins a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

Olly Kohn Co-founder of The Jolly Hog says: “This feels like a real milestone for The Jolly Hog. Four years ago when we first thought about applying it felt like a natural fit for us to help shape the way we run our business. Max, Josh and I are extremely proud to be the first UK meat business to be a B Corp. As a family company based in Bristol, it’s always been deeply ingrained in us to be doing the right thing by our team, our consumers and our planet. This doesn’t mean we are perfect or better than anyone else it just means that we are genuinely trying to be better as a company for everyone involved.”

B Corp has a community of 5,575 businesses globally who are certified, and these companies span across a wide range of industries.

Founded in 2007, The Jolly Hog is an independent, family run business that makes Great Taste Award-winning meat products. The company started as an events business and now its products can be found in major supermarkets across the UK.

From The Jolly Hog: “We strive to be different and unique in our independent approach to being the best tasting outdoor bred products in the market. For people that like sharing Jolly Good Food with people they love. Our meat comes from farms that meet high animal welfare standards. Through our Jolly Good Deeds we bring moments of joy with food to those that need it most, donating products and our time to help with causes committed to reducing food poverty. Over the next three years, we will be reducing our packaging significantly and we will be in fully recyclable packaging, because quite simply that’s the right thing to do.”

From B Lab UK: “B Lab UK is transforming the economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. A leader in economic systems change, our global network creates standards, policies, and tools for business, and we certify companies—known as B Corps—who are leading the way. To date, our global community includes 5,575 B Corps in 83 countries and 157 industries, and over 150,000 companies manage their impact with the B Impact Assessment and the SDG Action Manager.”
