A South West family-owned hospitality group has rewarded a Summer Bonus totalling £182,166 to their staff for continuing to offer great service during the busy peak Summer period when demand for South West holiday vacations saw unprecedented demand.
Philema Hospitality Management, which comprises Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa and The Esplanade Hotel in Newquay, Cornwall, and Boringdon Hall Hotel & Gaia Spa in Devon, has revealed their latest bonus figures where a total of £182,166 Summer bonus was paid out to its 325 staff members who worked for the hotel group between April – September 2022. This was in addition to commission, service charges and manager bonus.
“We appreciate that the last few years have been difficult for the hospitality industry and with the surge in demand for staycations, our teams have had to go above and beyond to offer an exceptional service to each and every guest who visited us this Summer. We wanted to ensure this hard work was rewarded and their commitment to our family-run business was felt.” explains Laura Cameron, Operations Director at Philema Hospitality Management.
In addition to the earned bonus, Philema’s 325 employees have also been surprised with various ‘Employee Appreciation Day’s’ throughout the year including random acts of kindness where treats
and vouchers were given away at random to team members as a thank-you for the hard work and commitment throughout the hotel brands.
“We have been exceedingly fortunate during the past 12 – 18 months and have managed to retain much of our talented staff and invest in the future of our team. We have 6 individuals currently on apprenticeships and we are looking to expand this into next year. We have seen a huge success in our trainee manager program this year and are looking to relaunch for the next intake in January 2023.”
