Rockwater, the beautiful beachside lifestyle hub in Hove, today announces the successful approval of its Branksome Chine expansion plans, a lifestyle and wellness destination, with a upstairs venue featuring a retractable roof,a family restaurant, and an entertainment venue.
The Rockwater village at Branksome Chine will be an extension of the Rockwater shack which is already operational, selling food and drink and replacing the former Branksome Chine Beach Shop.
With £12.5million being invested in two sites, one in Branksome Chine and the other in Sandbanks, the project aims to subtly regenerate a beautiful and well-known beachside site on one of the most picturesque beaches in the UK into a community hub.
The proposed redevelopment has been designed to blend in with the local space and surroundings to offer a wellness and lifestyle destination for locals and visitors alike. It will also create hundreds of jobs for the local community and will be run by locals.
The expansion plans are being led by Rockwater founder Luke Davis, who set up the original Rockwater in Hove in 2020. Now a bustling destination for the local community to enjoy live music, fitness and wellness classes, morning coffees and all cravings in between, Davis hopes the Branksome Chine location will be just as successful in bringing the community together.
Throughout the approval process the Rockwater team have also been consulting with local resident groups and the community to find out what they would like to see happen to the site and what it could offer to locals.
Commenting on the successful approval of the planning permission, Luke Davis, Founder of Rockwater, said “This is a passion project and our vision is to create a hub at the heart of the local community to be enjoyed by all, whilst also regenerating a seaside space that lives in harmony with the local surroundings.
“Rockwater in Branksome Chine will be a destination for lifestyle and wellness with our upstairs venue with a retractable roof offering a family restaurant, entertainment and featuring comedy and music. Decking on the beach will provide a venue for community groups to use for free, encouraging such activities as yoga, poetry, chess and crafts.”
Following the approval of planning permission, the project is set to be completed and open to all for Summer 2023 and offer new jobs for hundreds of local residents.
