Cornish company reveals new leadership and major rebrand bringing home an exciting new chapter

Cornish Gems, a leading holiday home company, reveals a major rebrand and new leadership, marking a new chapter in the business’ evolution, following its fifteenth anniversary.

Founded in 2007 by friends Julianne Shelton and Nadia Macer-Wright, Cornish Gems is now nationally renowned as the go-to, independent specialist for exceptional holidays in Cornwall.

The Cornish company offer a handpicked collection of 200 properties across the county and employ 100 local people, with a head-office in Truro – and this year are celebrating their fifteenth anniversary.

Marking an exciting new chapter, Tamsin Huddy, people and culture director, and Michelle Baillie, commercial director, have been appointed to oversee the day-to-day business operations and support growth, as the ambitious company looks to the future.

Both bring a wealth of experience from within the travel and tourism sector, with Michelle having spent over 20 years at TUI as head of retail and Tamsin having 25 years’ experience in various sectors of the tourism industry, including specialist tour operation and hotels.

The duo, already embedded in the culture of the Cornish company, share a special interest in sustainability and the future of responsible tourism.

Investing in the company’s continued development, Cornish Gems appointed Designate, a specialist creative and branding agency, to lead the strategic new brand development.

Following an extensive 12-month process, the project has totally reimagined the Cornish Gems identity – creating a revitalised brand architecture, logo, tone-of-voice, and new-look visuals, already rolled out across the B2B and B2C brand touchpoints.

Taking inspiration from the counties unique sense of place and heritage, the creative includes a warm and earthy palette of colours – such as Sea Foam, Cornish Gold, Red Clay, and Fern Green – designed to mirror Cornwall’s rich natural environment.

Adam Hill, executive director of Designate, said, “We love partnering with brilliant businesses to build their brands and this brief really was a bit special. We’ve loved working with the Cornish Gems team to deliver an entirely new, fresh brand that is truly representative of not only Cornwall, but also builds upon their standout achievements as they look to future growth.”

Julianne Shelton, co-managing director of Cornish Gems, added, “Our fifteenth anniversary celebrations presented an opportunity to better reflect our evolution as a growing independent business. We’re thrilled to welcome Michelle and Tamsin to their new roles to lead this exciting next chapter – and to reveal our new brand, which so cleverly captures our ethos, offering and a refreshed proposition. This is a milestone moment for us and the start of an exciting new chapter, as we continue to set the highest standard for holiday homes in Cornwall.”

As an environmentally responsible business, sustainability remains at the heart of Cornish Gems. From rigorously supporting local producers and suppliers, to offering sustainably sourced Welcome Gifts, supporting owners to make eco-improvements and fundraising for brilliant, good causes – it’s something the whole team gets behind.

Understanding the value of destinations and experiences, the new Cornish Gems brand celebrates the Cornish lifestyle, and heroes the in-house team’s expertise, knowledge, and insider tips – helping to make holidays more memorable.
