The charity that looks after the 630 miles of iconic South West Coast Path marks its 50th Anniversary this year and it’s looking for iconic food producers from Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall along the Trail to join it in its celebrations during the official Year of the Coast.
Thousands of supporters, walkers, volunteers, members and Path enthusiasts will join the South West Coast Path Association on a 50th Anniversary Trailblazer Walk which starts in Minehead and Poole during National Walking month in May and ends in Plymouth in June for birthday celebrations and a major photographic exhibition sponsored by St Austell Brewery.
Major Sponsors Cotswold Outdoor, Macs Adventure (walking holiday specialist), Luxury Coastal and Hiiker are already onboard as sponsors but the charity is now offering food and drink producers across the Path the opportunity to support the event as an official South West Coast Path Product.
Could you be the next Coast Path Pasty, Ice-Cream or Cuppa fuelling tired walkers and championing your local product as part of the South West Coast Path experience? As a sponsor you’ll also be supporting the charity in its work to protect, care for, improve and share the amazing health and wellbeing benefits of the Path which is under increasing threat from climate change.
Christie Burton, Head of Fundraising for SWCPA comments, “The Path attracts over 9 million visitors a year bringing £520 million into the local economy. The local food and drink that visitors sample along the way is an important part of the South West Coast Path experience – this is a great opportunity to link your brand with the UK’s most popular National Trail and one of the region’s most important environmental assets during its anniversary year, whilst supporting us in caring for it.”
There’s also opportunities for hospitality and accommodation businesses along the Path to get involved as Way Makers and Coast Path Passport stamping points as part of the anniversary celebrations.
