Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa refresh dining and drinks space with new interior project

The Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa in Newquay have undergone a refurbishment of their food and beverage spaces, creating a place for laid-back socialising, dining and drinking, using local suppliers. Awarded the “Best Bar List” at the prestigious Trencherman’s Awards 2022, Bay Bar at Fistral Beach Hotel and spa overlooks the world-famous surfing beach of Fistral in Newquay and is the perfect spot for a sundowner with an action-packed view, exclusively for adults.

Choosing a colour palette inspired by the hotel’s coastal location, the neutral tones of the hanging rope ceiling feature in Bay Bar complement the blue hues captured in the seating spaces that mimic the famous landscapes of Fistral Beach, whilst the rustic woven lampshades from Lin Lovekin Baskets in Dune Restaurant create a home-from-home feeling as guests enter. The updated raised flooring throughout both areas ensures guests have an uninterrupted view of the stunning seascapes on offer, creating cosy spaces that work for every season.

Operations Director Laura Cameron, who led the design, says “Whilst it’s hard to put into words the impact of raising floor levels, I think the view speaks for itself. The new furnishings just work to complement and highlight those views across Fistral and we wanted to create a new relaxing space that carries guests from coffee to cocktails, sunshine to storm watching. Bringing in more natural elements to complement our existing wood cladding from Tom Raffield was important, as was our continued relationships with local suppliers which include Dick Pearce Bellyboards and locally made willow shades to enhance this vision.”

Laura continues “The transformation we have been able to complete in a tight turnaround of two weeks is down to the incredible hard work of our teams and our wonderful contractors. Shutting for any amount of time for refurbishment is always hard especially when access is restricted to the spa and gym. We thank our teams and members for their support during this flurry of refurbishment.”

Reflecting the laid-back ethos and inspired decor, the food menu boasts seasonal produce served on sharing boards, light lunches and snacks alongside the ‘storm in a teacup’ Afternoon Tea. Bay Bar’s award-winning Bar List ensures cocktail lovers are not left disappointed with favourites from the bars’ mixologists prominent, including the ‘Gin & Jam’ using the Cornish Tarquin’s Dry Gin, ‘The Hugo’ combining a mix of Prosecco, mint, fresh lime and St Germain Elderflower Liqueur and the classic ‘Amaretto Sour’.

Diners can tuck into a sharing style tapas menu at Dune Restaurant with tastes to suit those wanting fodder from the sea, land and farm. Options include Tuna Tacos, King Prawn Bao Bun, Pork & Black Pudding St Ewe Scotch Egg and Wild Mushroom Arancini, with a hand-picked wine list, including local options from Knightor in Cornwall, which completes the dining experience.

Bay Bar is open daily from 10.00am – late, serving food from 12.00pm – 9.00pm and Afternoon Tea from 12.00pm – 5.00pm.
Dune Restaurant is open daily serving dinner from 6.00pm – 9.30pm.
