The brewing team at Butcombe Brewing Co (part of Liberation Group) is raising a glass today having triumphed at this year’s SIBA’s (The Society of Independent Brewers) Independent Beer Awards 2023.
Butcombe Brewing Co took home the silver award for its alcohol-free IPA, Goram IPA Zero in the non-alcoholic and low ABV category. The awards are one of the UK’s leading beer competitions, with experts including brewers, beer sommeliers and top tasters sitting on the judging panel and awarding the prizes.
Marc McGuigan, Group MD, Brewing & Distribution, Liberation Group says: “Huge congratulations to our brewing team for once again proving our Goram IPA Zero is a giant on the low/no alcohol stage. Our brilliant team works so hard to produce a great tasting alcohol-free IPA that is full of authentic flavour and body.” Available in bottles and on draught, Goram IPA Zero is the perfect option for those looking for a non-alcoholic drink to enjoy at home or at the pub.

The two-day judging session saw the panel marking ales for appearance, aroma, flavour, aftertaste and saleability. Anneli Baxter, SIBA Competitions Chair says: “The quality of entries into these awards genuinely does go from strength each year, and 2023 was no exception with some superb beers across the board. To win at the Regional Competitions is tough, to then go on to win your National Category even harder – being named one of the very best beers in the whole of the UK by an expert panel of judges. Huge congratulations and well done to all of this year’s winners.”
SIBA was established in 1980 to represent the interests of the growing number of independent breweries in Britain. The organisation currently represents over 800 independent craft breweries with a vision ‘to deliver the future of British beer’ as the ‘voice of British independent Brewing’.
