Trewithen Dairy challenge the classic cream tea with a ‘Scone Revolution’

Innovative Trewithen Dairy’s ‘Scone Revolution’ has brought a fresh new take on the classic cream tea over the years, making clotted cream more versatile and appealing to a wider range of tastes. At this year’s Royal Cornwall Show, Trewithen Dairy will be dressed to impress with the red carpet officially rolled out, as it transports you to a ‘Night at the Movies’.

No trip to the cinema is complete without snacks and drinks and with that in mind Trewithen has created the ultimate cinema inspired scones. The key ingredient is the family-owned dairy’s legendary Cornish clotted cream. The team have experimented in combining the richness of the cream with unusually paired ingredients to create a new sensation for visitors to try. These far from traditional scones promise adventurous new flavours and with the three options there’s something for everyone.

Thousands of scones will be prepared over the course of three days, showcasing the silver screen favourites, including a savoury ‘It’s Nacho Scone’, a sweet ‘Salted Caramel Popcorn’ and ‘The Strawberry Milkshake’. Visitors to the show will be encouraged to vote for their favourite and receive an exclusive discount voucher to use on Trewithen products.

For the first time ever the stand will have its own behind the scenes area roped off, allowing a place for press, influencers and local celebrities to relax and indulge in their favourite scones whilst feeling like a true Hollywood star. Like any VIP area, a backstage pass will be needed in advance to get into the area.

Francis Clarke, director at Trewithen Dairy, says: “The ‘Scone Revolution’ is all about reimagining the cream tea. Jam and cream is a classic combination for a reason, but tear down the traditional boundaries and there is a whole new world of flavour sensations that complement Cornish clotted cream. This year we wanted to inspire with a taste of movie magic. My favourite? The crunchy salty nachos and jalapeno on top of our indulgent cream instantly transports you to watching your favourite films in the cinema.”

The ‘Scone Revolution’ revamps the traditional cream tea and highlights the many outstanding and versatile qualities of the award-winning Trewithen Dairy Cornish clotted cream. Made in Cornwall to a traditional Cornish recipe from milk produced within the county, Trewithen Dairy’s clotted cream has ‘Protected Designation of Origin’ status.

The #SconeRevolution #nightatthemovies line-up at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show…

  • It’s Not Your Nacho – This savoury concoction mixes luxurious Cornish clotted cream with piquant salsa and spicy jalapeno on a cheese scone base.
  • The Strawberry Milkshake – This sweet candy pink scone is reminiscent of fond childhood milkshakes topped with sprinkles and a strawberry to melt in your mouth.
  • Salted Caramel Popcorn – The crunchy pop in your mouth scone! A hit combination of salted caramel sauce and clotted cream topped with crunchy popcorn – you will not be disappointed.

Royal Cornwall Show is the county’s biggest annual event, with thousands of visitors from near and far set to descend on the agricultural show. The ‘Night at the Movies – Scone Revolution’ follows on from the huge success of the Sweet Shop Scone Revolution and Britpop-themed ‘Great British Scone Revolution’, hosted by Trewithen Dairy at previous Royal Cornwall Shows.

Experts in all things dairy, Trewithen Dairy is encouraging everyone to get involved in the #SconeRevolution by recreating recipes at home and sharing on social feeds. Find out more at www.trewithendairy.co.uk.
