New £3m restaurant with sea views will champion Cornish produce

A stunning new £3m restaurant with panoramic sea views has been unveiled by a top Cornish hotel.

Iconic clifftop hotel The Headland has launched Restaurant RenMor – meaning Restaurant by the Sea in Cornish – which will be part of an ongoing refurbishment programme at the five-star venue.

Veryan Palmer, Director, said: “It has taken an incredible amount of vision, planning and execution to deliver a world class restaurant and it is testament to everyone involved in the renovation that we can now welcome diners for a fantastic new experience.

“The striking interiors are warm and timeless and there is attention to detail wherever you look. It is a restaurant in which luxury is for everyone – dress up or dress down, but most of all, take your time. It’s all part of the journey.”

RenMor replaces The Samphire as the hotel’s signature restaurant, and similarly to The Deck Restaurant in the Aqua Club and The Terrace, it warmly welcomes both guests and non-residents.

There are sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean from Restaurant RenMor and the new design gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the sights and aromas from the open plan kitchen. The menu reflects the surroundings – championing the highest quality Cornish produce from land and sea which is sourced sustainably from local suppliers.

Head Chef Fred Goodrich has built up strong relationships with local farmers and fishermen, smallholdings and micro businesses to unearth top quality Cornish produce – either directly from the boat every morning or from field to plate in hours.

He said: “The food I like to create is a mix of experiences from where I have worked and which I’ve enjoyed since I was growing up. In RenMor I’m trying to create something which can stand up to the best restaurants in Cornwall, offering fantastic flavours in a calm, light and breezy setting. Produce is always the hero and the aim is always enjoyment. We’re delivering exceptional quality and an unpretentious approach.”

The restaurant’s ethos is that top quality doesn’t have to mean ‘fine dining’ or formal. Here, luxury is for everyone. The atmosphere is opulent, exciting and inspirational. It is a gathering place where friends and families meet and make memories, celebrate special occasions, or simply share the joy of tasting beautiful food, cooked with flair and respect for Cornwall’s myriad ingredients.

Expect sharing plates where everyone tucks in, grazing menus, prime steaks on open coals, and whole fish fresh from the day boats, flipped on glowing embers. Eating here is a high-energy spectacle and service is impeccable, but the mood is always welcoming and relaxed.
