Dan and Joie Rosser are delighted to announce Noah’s fish & chips and seafood kitchen opened in Bristol on the 4th of May. To be found next to the river on Brunel Lock Road, Noah’s looks out to some of the city’s most well-known landmarks, with the historic B bond tobacco warehouse on one side and Cumberland Basin and Clifton Suspension Bridge on the other.

The iconic building, previously occupied by local cafe institution Lockside, which traded for 60 years and featured in several TV shows, including Only Fools and Horses, spans one floor and has been completely transformed by its latest custodians.

A gently curved wood-clad exterior leads into a light-filled dining space which nods to Bristol’s rich maritime history, with portholes and picture windows providing views from almost every seat in the informal 54-cover restaurant. There are plans to spill out onto the sun deck during the summer months, and to offer takeaway in the future.
Noah’s follows in the footsteps of thriving award-winning restaurant, The Scallop Shell in Bath, opened by Dan’s parents, Garry & Lisa Rosser in 2015, and shares their ethos for simple, beautifully cooked seafood delivered in a relaxed setting with the warmest hospitality. Dan and Joie are excited to bring their extensive knowledge of the fish & chips industry, and wealth of experience working for some of the nation’s best loved chefs to put their own unique spin on this new neighbourhood eatery.
Dan has honed his chef skills working with Mitch Tonks in Devon, Marco Pierre White in Singapore and Nieves Barragán Mohacho in London while Joie fell in love with hospitality life working for the Ritz-Carlton and Jason Atherton in Singapore.

Open for lunch, Tuesday to Sunday and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, Joie oversees the front of house, with the kitchen headed up by Dan. The daily changing menu is informed by the best of British fish and seafood landed at the South West coastal markets and the freshest shellfish sourced from the icy waters of Scotland, all served alongside local, seasonal produce.

On the main menu, you can expect to find the finest MSC approved cod and Peterhead haddock in the lightest crispy batter, with fresh cut chips, homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas; perfectly plump hand-dived Orkney scallops, served in the shell, with garlic and fresh herb butter; simply grilled whole day boat fish complemented by delicious dressings; sharing plates to be enjoyed family-style and more. Guests looking for a little extra value can take advantage of The Lock Keeper’s Lunch menu, available Tuesday – Friday.
“What we’re trying to create is a relaxed and comfortable restaurant celebrating some of the most amazing fish and seafood sourced from around the UK,” says Dan Rosser. “We want people to be able to pop in for fish & chips or go all out with the finest fish to share and incredible quality shellfish with a lovely bottle of wine. The location is stunning, we’ve got a great team in place, and we’ve been blown away by the welcome we’ve received – the dream is to build Noah’s into a destination restaurant locals love to visit.”
