Ganley & Naish are thrilled to announce that their cider, Hell and High Water, has won the gold medal at the third annual Sandford Orchards Breakthrough Cider Maker Awards. This prestigious competition, organised by Sandford Orchards, recognises and celebrates excellent quality whole juice ciders from around the UK.
This year, there were twenty four entries from thirteen counties, covering all styles of cider. From naturally sweet to single variety, session ciders to bottle fermented. They were honoured to be among the nine finalists who made it to the final round of judging by a panel of expert judges.
The judges were looking for ciders that were not only delicious, but also ambitious, beautifully presented and crafted by passionate people. They want to help up-and-coming cider makers to flourish and become successful businesses.
The winning cider, Hell and High Water (ABV 5.5%) is a medium dry, single variety, Browns apple cider in a 440ml can. Ganley & Naish are very proud of this cider, which they think is unique, beautiful, impressive and incredibly drinkable.
The judges agreed and gave them the gold award. Barny Butterfield, Chief Cidermaker at Sandford Orchards, said: “It’s a crisp and gently complex cider with a lovely sweetness to acid balance. Ridiculously moreish, light on the palate – fault free, an amazing single variety with an apple notoriously difficult to nail down! The branding is sensational, breaks the mould and brings a contemporary and classic feel to an amazing drink“.
Andy Jenkins, of Ganley & Naish said this: “We are over the moon to receive this recognition for our hard work and dedication. It was not easy to get this cider out; Covid, new packing type, new branding, new artwork, working with new people and building those relationships. So to win this award, with a product we are incredibly proud of, has made it even more special and rewarding.”
Join them in celebrating this achievement and try their award-winning cider if you haven’t already. Cheers!
