Bristol’s Root and Acorn Kitchen in Bath, have made it onto the nominations for Best Vegan-Friendly restaurant at The British Restaurant Awards.
It’s the second year Root has made it onto the list. The vegetable-first restaurant opened in Wapping Wharf near the city centre in 2017 and celebrates local suppliers and producers with a “more veg, less meat” vision.
The modern sharing plates restaurant is owned by Josh Eggleton of the Pony Group and Luke Hasell of Story Group. Head Chef Rob Howell and Group Manager Meg Oakley opened a sister restaurant in Wells, Somerset, in December 2022.
Acorn Vegetarian Restaurant has matured into “Oak” but retains the same ethos with original vegetarian and vegan dishes served in a bistro style. They do small plates for sharing, with around 40% of the produce supplied from their allotment.
The Library in Bristol made it onto the Best Bar nominations. For the Best Restaurant in Bristol category, The Chefs Table, Bulrush, The Mint Room, Namak, Paco Tapas, Adelina Yard, BOX-E, Wilsons, The Ethicurean and Casamia are the nominees.
The fifth annual British Restaurant Awards is set to take place on 5th September. You can vote for your favourites on the sponsor’s Telephonos site: www.telephonos.com.
