Thatchers supports pub customers with investment in their outdoor space

Three pubs across the UK have received a fantastic £10,000 garden makeover from Somerset cider maker, Thatchers.

With its continuing support for pubs this year through a promotion offering three top prizes of a bespoke makeover of their outdoor space, Thatchers also gave away 10 runners-up prizes of a garden parasol kit, comprising a sought-after Thatchers jumbrella and five eye-catching premium parasols. To take part, pubs simply needed to purchase three or more kegs of Thatchers ciders, to be automatically entered into the draw.

The Old Mill in Woolacombe, The Haxey Gate in Doncaster, and the Kings Head in Norfolk were the three winners, receiving visits from Thatchers designers to discuss the individual needs of each outlet and their customers.

The manager at the Old Mill, Mark Galpin said, “We are lucky to have a spacious multi-level outdoor area but it lacked lighting when dark, so we couldn’t make full use of it once the sun had gone down. With new umbrellas, jumbrellas, lighting, and even fixed table numbers, we’re delighted with the new look garden that now adds to our customer experience.”

Mark Mason from The Haxey Gate said, “We were already in the process of updating our patio area, so to receive great advice from the designers at Thatchers, installing new benches, parasols and planters has been so welcome. It’s made a big difference to our customers over the summer, who love to enjoy the beautiful views alongside the River Idle.”

The Kings Head is known for its events and festivals it hosts, and so has chosen to build a Thatchers Cider stage in the garden, which is due to be installed soon.

James Palmer, head of On-Trade at Thatchers says, “It’s great to see the difference a vibrant outdoor space can make to a pub. Attractive outside space, whether a garden or courtyard, however large or small, has an increasingly growing appeal to customers, whether with garden furniture, planters,  lighting or even an events stage. And a pub garden isn’t just for summer. With lighting, heaters and cover, gardens are playing a key part in increasing capacity for venues throughout the year. Our three makeover winners all have had different requirements, and we’ve been very pleased to work with them on their makeovers and help them improve their visitor experience as a result.”
