Waterhouse Fayre creates the perfect cheeseboard accompaniment!

If you love cheese, you probably know that fruit pastes are a great accompaniment to enhance the flavour and texture of your favourite cheese. But did you know that you can also make your cheeseboard more fun and festive with fruit pastes in different shapes and colours?

That’s what Ann from Waterhouse Fayre has been doing for a long time, especially for a customer who owns three cheese shops. She used to make the pastes in a large block and customers would then cut them into different sized cubes to sell with their cheeses, but then she had an idea to make them more attractive and creative.

Last October, she used a Christmas tree-shaped pastry cutter to make some festive fruit pastes. She also found a silicone mould in the shape of a Christmas tree and tried making the pastes in that. It worked and she was delighted with the results. So were her customers.

After Christmas Ann was thinking about how popular cheese wedding cakes are and if they could do something with their fruit pastes for them. She looked for some heart moulds but also stumbled upon some mice moulds and had a eureka moment!

She experimented with the mice moulds and found that they were perfect for making fruit pastes. She started soring out the packaging and launched them in August. They were an immediate hit! Many people ordered them for their wedding cheese cakes but also for other occasions and now that it’s Christmas again, they are a fantastic addition to any cheeseboard. They are cute, colourful and delicious!

Anne says: “It is great to see people’s reaction to them, a lot of fun.”  They’re also a great conversation starter!

Unfortunately, the fruit pastes cannot be sent by mail order because they need to be handled carefully and kept chilled. But if you want to try them, you can find them in some of the following places: Country Cheeses in Topsham, Tavistock & Totnes, Mole Valley Stores – in all stores in the South West, Fermoys & Endsleigh Garden Centres, Fine Foods in Braunton, Kitchen @25 in Crediton, Powderham Country Stores in Kenton, and Rich’s Cider Farm Shop in Highbridge.

So, if you are looking for a way to make your cheeseboard more fun and festive, why not try Waterhouse Fayre’s Damson or Quince fruit pastes? You will not regret it!
