Warrens Bakery launches charity Christmas campaign ‘Naughty or Nice’

Warrens Bakery, the oldest Cornish Pasty maker in the world, has today announced their very special charity Christmas campaign, ‘Naughty or Nice’. The campaign, which officially launches in store and online on Friday 1st December, will see the ultimate battle of the pasties with customers being asked to choose between the Traditional Cornish ‘Nice’ Pasty or the Festive Turkey and Cranberry ‘Naughty’ Pasty, with 10p from all the Festive Pasty purchases being donated to the children’s rugby charity Wooden Spoon.

To launch the campaign, Warrens Bakery were joined by Exeter Chiefs’ scrum-half Sam Maunder, representing the Festive Turkey and Cranberry ‘Naughty’ Pasty, and Cornish Pirates’ fullback Kyle Moyle, representing the Traditional Cornish ‘Nice’ Pasty. The two rugby stars who hail from Devon and Cornwall respectively, were tasked with persuading customers to get behind the campaign and the long-standing county rivalry, not only to get people voting for which pasty they’ll be choosing this festive season, but to raise as much money as possible for the Wooden Spoon charity throughout the month of December.

Warrens Bakery, who have existing relationships with Penzance and Newlyn RFCs’ youth section, are continuing to support the rugby community by raising money specifically for Wooden Spoons’ Disability Tag Rugby Festival, which takes place next summer and with donations going towards sponsoring a child to take part, as well as training and kit costs.

Louise Moye, Marketing Director at Warrens Bakery, said: “We are excited to launch the ‘Naughty or Nice’ Christmas campaign and support the youth rugby community through such a great cause as Wooden Spoon. Christmas is also a time for fun and we hope that people will get behind the battle of the pasties and the Devon and Cornwall rivalry we know so well. We look forward to seeing which one will come out on top!”

On being a part of the campaign, Exeter Chiefs’ Sam Maunder, said: “I’m really happy to be a part of this campaign for Warrens Bakery, who are raising money for such an important charity in Wooden Spoon, which supports vulnerable children across the UK. I hope everyone will be buying the ‘naughty’ festive pasty this December, not just to support such an important cause, but to show Kyle it’s not just all about the Traditional Cornish Pasty!”

Cornish Pirates’ Kyle Moyle, added: “As a Cornwall boy born and bred, I had to defend the long standing Traditional Cornish Pasty! However, I hope everyone will get behind this campaign from Warrens Bakery and buy the Festive Turkey and Cranberry ‘Naughty’ Pasty so we can raise as much money as possible for Wooden Spoon. Warrens Bakery is already building relationships with grass-roots junior rugby down here in Cornwall, so it’s great to see them doing even more for the rugby community.”

Sarah Webb, Wooden Spoon, CEO followed: “We are absolutely delighted that Warrens Bakery has decided to partner with Wooden Spoon for their ‘Naughty or Nice’ pasty campaign. The funds raised will go towards our disability rugby tag appeal. This initiative aims to provide children with additional needs the invaluable opportunity to nurture their rugby skills, foster teamwork, and engage in social interactions within an inclusive and accepting environment. These are opportunities that might otherwise remain inaccessible to these children due to their complex needs.
Thank you to Warrens Bakery for supporting Wooden Spoon to break down barriers and enabling us to leave an unforgettable impact on children through the power of rugby. I’ll be going for the ‘naughty’ pasty
.”

Customers can purchase the ‘naughty’ and ‘nice’ flavour pasties both in store and online at www.warrensbakery.co.uk from 1st December – 31st December 2023, and can vote for their favourite flavour here.
