The Northey Arms in Box reopens after extensive refurbishment

The Northey Arms in Box, managed by Butcombe Pubs & Inns (part of Liberation Group), has reopened following an extensive refurbishment inside and out. The pub with rooms on the outskirts of Bath now boasts gorgeous interiors, 13 stylish bedrooms and delicious new menus, in one of the area’s most iconic and historic buildings.

The pub has been given a complete makeover in an elegant modern country house style. The bar, snug and dining areas have been refreshed with a palette of greens, dark greys and neutrals with rich fabrics and upholstery in tweeds, leather, terracotta and rust. Traditional wood panelled walls, window seats, rugs and heritage wallpapers now feature alongside leather deep buttoned fixed seating, upholstered lounge chairs and statement wall and pendant lighting, creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from.

The 13 bedrooms have been beautifully refurbished and remodelled from top to bottom in a contemporary country style and have everything you would expect for a great night’s stay – super comfy premium beds, luxurious bedding, high end bathrooms, treats and Bramley toiletries – the ideal base for exploring Bath, nearby historic Corsham and the stunning Wiltshire countryside.

Outside is a huge garden complete with children’s play area, beautifully landscaped for alfresco drinking and dining with fixed wooden seating, pergolas festooned with lights and raised planters.

Jayson Perfect, Group Managing Director, Pubs & Inns, Liberation Group says: “The Northey Arms is a beautiful building with a rich history. This refurbishment has enhanced its much-loved features and restored those that have been lost over time – it looks incredible inside and out. We’ve worked our magic in the kitchen too with the introduction of new menus. We’re sure our guests will enjoy the new look and feel, alongside our fresh new award-winning food and drink offering.”

The new breakfast, lunch and supper menus focus on locally sourced produce, seasonal ingredients and elevated hearty pub and modern classics – the classic Full English, loaded bacon butty, shakshuka or plant-based sausages with roasted mushrooms, spinach and hash browns. Snacks such as Symplicity tomato ‘nduja’ croquettes with whipped feta or Stornoway black pudding Scotch egg, apple and tamarind ketchup. Mains include Cornish mussels, Butcombe Original ale, smoked bacon and crème fraiche with grilled sourdough, Cornbury Estate venison steak, butter-roasted celeriac, parsley mash, soused pear with a red wine sauce or Pie of the week with seasonal greens, proper gravy and a choice of mash of thick cut chips.

On Sundays it’s all about a fabulous roast – Rump of Hereford and Angus beef, Belly of West End Farm pork, Castlemead Farm chicken or a seasonal vegetable Wellington, all served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and red wine gravy.

Behind the bar is a great selection of wine and cocktails, alongside a wide range of craft beer, real ale and cider from Butcombe’s award-winning brewery a few miles away in Bristol.

The Northey Inn reopens just in time for its Christmas offering, with a stunning 3-course Festive Menu, new seasonal sharing boards, and party bookings available, not forgetting Christmas Day itself.

Explore the menus and book now.
