Ready to roll: Newquay’s Pizza Jockeys rides back into town

Pizza Jockeys opened a second permanent restaurant in Wesley Yard, Newquay on Friday 26th January. This follows the success of the Falmouth branch, which opened in January 2023, and previous seasonal pop-ups in Newquay.

The latest addition to Newquay promises incredible sourdough pizza, an eclectic drinks selection and a buzzing atmosphere. Visitors can expect mouth-watering sourdough pizzas, with toppings such as Porco Rosso (tomatoes, mozzarella, chorizo, ‘Nduja, red onion, piquanté peppers, with a honey and garlic glaze), or the bestseller, Cheesy Marmite Garlic Bread (mozzarella, marmite, confit garlic, honey and rosemary oil).

Weekly specials will also be on offer, as well as the famed Frozen Margaritas and a selection of other cocktails, mocktails, wine and soft drinks, the newly introduced cellar will allow visitors to have a choice of eight draught guest beers and ales from Cornish breweries, including Jubel, Newquay Brewing Project and Goodh Brewery.

With a reputation of being lovably quirky, the interiors of Pizza Jockeys are no different. Inside, one wall is adorned with a mural by Falmouth-based artist Bryony Pickering, whilst the other features an array of records. The location, which was previously known as Paint Spot, has outside seating too, ready for those warmer evenings.

Commenting on the opening, Becky Bane, Owner of Pizza Jockeys said: “Newquay was our first location when we started Pizza Jockeys in lockdown, and it’s always been our dream to be back here permanently, it feels incredible to finally be back in our hometown, with the added bonus of some outside space too! We know the Newquay crowd especially well, so we’re super excited to open our doors back up to the community that made our dream turn into proper bricks and mortar. You can definitely expect the same banging atmosphere, some familiar faces and the same quality serves – we’ve got exciting plans for the spot, including a few additions to the menu and a bill of live music, so keep your eyes peeled!”

Pizza Jockeys will be open between 5pm and 9pm Wednesday – Sunday. The menu includes vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options. The team will do the best they can to accommodate other dietary requirements.
