Cornwall is known for its stunning scenery, rich history, and cultural diversity. But it is also home to some of the finest restaurants in the UK, offering a range of cuisines and flavours that reflect the region’s bounty and heritage. One such restaurant is The Mulberry, a cosy and charming eatery in the heart of Falmouth, which has recently earned a coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
The Bib Gourmand is a prestigious recognition given by the Michelin Guide to restaurants that serve excellent food at reasonable prices. Only 20 new restaurants in the UK have received this honour in 2024, and The Mulberry is the only one in Cornwall. The Michelin inspectors praised The Mulberry’s dishes as “well-balanced, skilfully crafted and a joy to eat”, and highlighted its coastal location and seasonal menu.
The Mulberry is run by two talented and passionate chefs, Jay and Harry, who have a wealth of experience and a love for local produce. Jay worked for two years at Paul Ainsworth’s Mariners in Rock, a renowned gastropub in Cornwall, while Harry travelled the world and cooked at some of the best restaurants in different countries. Together, they have created a menu that showcases the best of Cornwall’s land and sea, using fresh, sustainable, and high-quality ingredients.
Jay and Harry are delighted and humbled by the Bib Gourmand award, which they did not expect. They said they are “over the moon” and “incredibly proud” of their achievement,. They also said they are excited to be part of the growing food scene in Falmouth, which has become a destination for food lovers and tourists alike.
The Mulberry is a hidden gem in Cornwall’s culinary landscape, and a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. To reserve a table, call 01326 761055 or visit their website.
