The Buttery Tea-room at Lorna Doone is set to reopen its doors on 29 March, under the management of a new tenant, Antony Chipperfield. This re-opening will be alongside Easter events hosted by the National Trust in the Valley.
The new tenant of the Buttery, Antony Chipperfield, who also runs the Ramblers Rest at County Gate, Countisbury, shared his enthusiasm about the opportunity, saying: “I consider it a huge privilege to be entrusted with the Buttery Tea room. Alongside our staff we will endeavour to offer a superb service to all that visit.”
With the Buttery set to re-open in time for Easter, the National Trust will be hosting a fun-filled family activity day on Wednesday 3 April at Lorna Doone. The day is free to attend and will feature a wide range of nature and craft activities in the garden in front of the Buttery for visitors to join. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the popular National Trust Easter trail running throughout the Easter holidays (Friday 29 March – Sunday 14 April). Additionally, The Doone Valley Gallery & Gifts will be open to enjoy. With a focus on local artists, it will be showcasing a selection of unique gifts and homeware for visitors.

We are looking forward to working with Antony and his team and are delighted for them to be joining us in the valley alongside Doone Valley Gallery & Gifts.”
The National Trust’s Easter trails will also be returning from 29 March to 14 April at various locations, including Baggy Point, Woolacombe, Heddon Valley, and Arlington Court. These trails offer a variety of fun activities along the route and are dog-friendly, please follow any lead recommendations on site.
