Bright pink, early, forced rhubarb nestles in its crate alongside creamy, nobbly cauliflower and freshly picked leeks. All the seasonal fruit and veg sparkle in this little gem of a farm shop, on the edge of Mickleton, the northernmost settlement in Gloucestershire, between Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds and Stratford Upon Avon in Warwickshire.
With a history of providing the community with homegrown fruit and vegetables since 1969, Pages Farm Shop has gradually evolved and added to its offering, supplying the best local produce from nearby growers and farmers. Joe and Heather, who run the farm shop ensure that their ethos keeps food miles low and supports the local economy and, of course, keeps the customers happy!
Originally a milking parlour, the wooden clad exterior leads to a spotless, inviting retail space with fresh produce neatly displayed beside store cupboard essentials, trays of fresh eggs, jams, condiments and delicatessen treats. Much of this can be ordered online and delivered to your door with the original “veg boxes” now including fruit, meat and dairy, depending on what you fancy.
A large corner of the shop is dedicated to some beautiful homeware ranges with woven baskets and tablemats and chunky, country-style pottery decorated in attractive blues and creams and looking very tempting against the dark blue walls.
The joy continues outside with picnic benches provided from which to nibble your purchases or enjoy a hot drink and watch your children play in a designated play area. Say hello to the animals whilst you are enjoying the fresh air. There are goats and donkeys and even a fabulous Kune pig called Splodge. It’s the perfect antidote to the busy lives we all lead!
