Lye Cross Farm Shop, Bristol

Every cheese eater has heard of Cheddar even if they have never actually visited the West Country. If it’s a life ambition to journey to the home of this world-renowned cheese then it’s worth stopping off 7 miles out, in the tranquil Vale of Wrington, to visit Lye Cross Farm, cheesemakers since 1952. They take cheese very seriously.

Their farm shop is full to bursting with fabulous creamy cheddar in all strengths and flavours, displayed only metres from where they are made in their dairy. But don’t think for a minute that cheese is the only food on the menu!

The farm shop has an enticing meat counter displaying locally sourced lamb, pork and poultry and beef reared on the family farm. The knowledgeable butchers are on hand seven days a week to help with any questions to make your choice the star of your culinary show!

There’s fresh fruit and vegetables to help you accomplish your five-a-day, a bakery section and fresh fish delivered every Thursday. There’s a mouth-watering deli counter with mounds of scotch eggs, pies and quiches for a quick bite and, to top it all off, an enticing range of local beers and ciders. Your basket will be overflowing with goodies to make the perfect meal.

Open seven days a week with plenty of parking, Lye Cross Farm shop has it all. And back to the cheese – just for a second – the shop can also supply cheese towers for your wedding, party or other special occasion using all your favourite cheeses, not just cheddar!

Find out more about them at their website and follow them on Facebook, Instagram and X.
