Cornwall’s favourite festival destination, Falmouth, has announced another major event to its year-round calendar. The Falmouth Food Festival will take place on the 24th-26th May from 10am-8pm for the second year running, and promises to deliver a vibrant platform for many creatives and vendors to showcase their creations on the water front, at Church Street Car Park.
The event is run by two local boys who proudly strive to source all food traders, musicians, craft makers, artists and even contractors, from within a 30km radius. This key effort makes it unlike any of its kind, and creates a noticeably authentic atmosphere and something that Falmouth can really be proud of. Attracting locals and visitors alike, Falmouth Food Festival is planning on growing organically, and maintaining its local and community support methods.
Attendees can expect FREE ENTRY and an exciting schedule over the three days including food traders like Pysk, a Falmouth fishmonger with an exciting menu, MY MUM MAKES, providing authentic Thai cuisine, and The Cornish Italian with classic Italian dishes from fresh Cornish produce. The main stage will host bands and musicians such as Zola Courtney, Kakafoni Groove Collective, King Dinosaur and some surprise announcements. Also chef demonstrations and talks, including a special shellfish demo from the head chef at Hevva! All of this and much more including a jam-packed makers tent, and a well-stocked bar with beers brewed at St Ives Brewery, rum cocktails from Crusty Juggler, and wine tasting from ELIXR.
The event has grown slightly into the top car park, upgraded its facilities and stage equipment, extended its bar tent and has added more waterfront seating so that people can stick around and enjoy the festival all day long.
Event organiser Barney Farnworth said, “Falmouth and Cornwall are overflowing with culinary talent, musical expertise, premium produce and remarkable creatives. The idea behind Falmouth Food Festival is to provide a platform for all of these things amongst a welcoming and entertaining environment. Harry and I had great feedback from last year, so expect more goodness this year!”
Barney continued, “We’re especially excited about the diverse range of food this year, plus our exciting music schedule. We haven’t yet announced who’s playing our Saturday night closing set, but expect some funky-fun tropical vibes! There will be something for everyone this year, in a very special setting that’s close to our heart.”
Richard Wilcox, Executive Director of Falmouth BID, said, “Falmouth’s Festival calendar gets bigger and better every year, and we are delighted to be able to support Falmouth Food Festival via Falmouth BID under our umbrella grouping of Falmouth Creates. With Falmouth University and countless creative businesses continually setting up across our vibrant community, the Falmouth Food Festival is a brilliant example of grassroots ideation that has transformed with the support and nurturing of Falmouth BID and surrounding creative colleagues and community.”
Richard continues, “Falmouth is a dynamic and creative destination, which punches well above its weight, attracting people from all around the world for its festivals and events which all drive locals and visitors alike into our excellent food and drink scene, bustling high street and community offering.”
