New menu at BANK Bristol celebrates the evolution of social feasting

Following a raft of recent accolades, BANK Bristol has announced the launch of its new menu, which will develop the restaurant’s sharing plates concept with an increased emphasis on social feasting. Going live this month, the menu will retain the eclectic wood fired cooking style that BANK has built its reputation on, while offering more flexibility for groups of all sizes.

Responding to a steady shift towards diners looking to share their experience with others, BANK’s owner and founder, Dan O’Regan, and head chef and co-owner, Jack Briggs-Horan, have developed an offering with feasting at its heart. Moving from a menu built around small plates with some larger dishes, BANK will now offer more large sharing plates with the option of smaller versions, as well as some new centrepiece specials.

Alongside its main menu, BANK will also introduce a FEAST menu, designed for guests who would like to leave their dining experience in the hands of the kitchen. Presented as the neighbourhood restaurant’s contemporary take on the Tasting Menu, the BANK FEAST looks to combine all of the interest and excitement of a tasting experience with the timeless and convivial joy of feasting with friends and family.

Among the flexible sharing plates on BANK’s new menus will be Cornish Octopus, Cucumber + Burnt Grape Salad, Thai Green Curry, Cashew; Smoked Beef Shin Nugget, Dorset Red Custard, Ogleshield, Burnt Jalapeño Butter; and Barbecued Carrot, Walnut, Caramelised Yogurt, Chimichurri. The larger specials, for two or more to share, feature Hereford Cross Sirloin, Rendang, Grilled Bone Marrow, Charred Pineapple; Barbecued Market Fish, Agretti, Turmeric Kimchi, Green Peppercorn Oil; and Tropea Onion Tarte Tatin, Den Miso, Hazelnut, Homewood Ewe’s Curd.

Dan O’Regan, owner and founder of BANK, commented: “Social feasting is a natural fit for BANK, as our food takes inspiration from cooking traditions that originated around a communal fire. Sharing has always been at the core of our offering, but we’ve definitely noticed a shift towards group feasts over recent months. While on the one hand you have diners looking for more casual dining options, on the other you’ve got a real squeeze on personal finances – which means dining out has to be a special experience, often shared with a wider group of friends. We’ve tried to reflect this in our new menu and can’t wait to see what people think. We keep hearing that the Tasting Menu is dead. Well, I say, long live the feast.”

BANK in Bristol is open from 17:00 – 22:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 12:00 – 22:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 12:00 – 17:00 on Sundays. Diners can book via www.bankbristol.com.
