The Apple Tree Restaurant in Yeovil has scooped a Silver accolade at the Taste of the West Hospitality & Retail Awards 2024. Based at Brimsmore Gardens, which is part of The Gardens Group, the restaurant team earned this award having achieved high scores across areas including local sourcing, quality of food, quality of service and atmosphere.
Taking inspiration from the changing seasons in Somerset, The Apple Tree Restaurant serves up homemade classics every day, often using The Apple Tree Farm Shop as its larder. With traditional breakfasts, wholesome lunches and afternoon teas on the daily changing menu, the restaurant received special praise for its Sunday Roast, with the judges noting crunchy crackling, perfectly cooked vegetables and handmade Yorkshire puddings.
The team was applauded for its friendly and welcoming service, as well as knowledge of ingredients used on the menu. The judges’ closing remarks included praise for The Apple Tree’s “fabulous local ethos that shone through”, which has been a cornerstone of the restaurant since it first opened.
Kate Soan, manager of The Apple Tree Farm Shop and Restaurant at Brimsmore Gardens, commented: “We are so happy to have been awarded a Silver at this year’s Taste of the West, as we know the judges are very experienced and take a close look at all areas of our offering. It was especially pleasing to receive so many good comments around our local sourcing, as we’ve always taken such pride in working with the incredible food and drink producers that surround us. Awards like this are only earned through a unified team effort, so I’m delighted to be able to share this honour with everyone at The Apple Tree.”
