A family farm in Semington, Wiltshire is calling on locals to take another look at where their dairy comes from, beginning with a free family fun day on Saturday 13th July. The event will mark the launch of Robert and Lucy Noad’s new milk vending station at Woodhouse Farm, in partnership with regenerative dairy brand, Golden Hooves; offering regen milk, milkshakes, cheese and a hand-picked selection of local products.
Promising a day packed with delicious food and fun but thought-provoking activities, the event at Woodhouse Farm is part of a touring Festival of Regenerative Farming, run by First Milk, the farmer-owned dairy co-operative behind Golden Hooves.
The day will feature cheese tastings, local food and crafts, a bouncy castle and nature walks – wellies recommended! Visitors will also be able to meet Woodhouse Farm’s baby goats and chicks, as well as heading out on a worm and beetle safari to learn about the crucial role these creepy crawlies play in regenerating the soil.
Woodhouse Farm’s Robert and Lucy Noad have become the latest farmers to join Golden Hooves’ ‘regen revolution’, which dares people to think differently about dairy. Together, they sit at the forefront of the regenerative movement, while making regeneratively farmed dairy products easier to access through new product launches and vending sites.
Within the new vending space, visitors will be able to purchase the farm’s regenerative milk directly from the self-service machines. This milk will also supply a milkshake vending machine, with a wide range of unique “clean” (i.e. no nasties) and delicious flavours to choose from. Another machine will be stocked with the Golden Hooves’ award-winning Mature Cheddar, Vintage Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar and Red Leicester, and the Noad children, Joseph and Lottie’s free range hens eggs. These will be sold alongside produce from Wiltshire Chilli Farm and The Slow Vinegar Company, as well as sweet and savoury bakes from The Lamb on the Strand, made using Woodhouse Farm’s milk, Golden Hooves cheese and other sustainable ingredients.
Lucy Noad from Woodhouse Farm commented: “We love how we farm; working with nature, caring for our cows, and now we are going to be meeting our local community too. We are excited to be able to talk about what we are doing here to regenerate our planet, we hope that the milk vending machine will be more than just somewhere to buy milk, it will be a way for us to share our news of how dairy farming is a force for good in the fight against climate change, for our customers to be a part of this journey too. We are also selling our wonderful regenerative cheese range and supporting other local, sustainable food producers by stocking their produce too. We hope that customers will buy our tasty, regenerative milk and milkshakes and join our community in the regen revolution!”
Leona McDonald, director of Golden Hooves, added: “We have been blown away by Robert and Lucy’s vision, drive and commitment to regenerating the earth, so we’re super excited to be launching our latest Golden Hooves vending site at Woodhouse Farm – this selection of milk, cheese and more definitely gets our Stomp of Approval! We all need to engage more with where our food comes from and nothing beats heading down to a farm to pet the animals, take in the country air and eat some yummy food! People are curious about regenerative agriculture and how it can be a solution to climate change. It’s a word that is being used more and more but there’s not much information available about what it actually means, so what better way to find out than visiting one yourself and seeing it first-hand.”
The free family fun day takes place at Woodhouse Farm, Semington, on Saturday 13th July, from 10.00am – 4.00pm Find out more about Golden Hooves at goldenhooves.co.uk.
