Now one of Britain’s leading honey farms, Quince Honey Farm is family run and was first established in 1949 by George Wallace with 2 hives of bees, an inexorable work ethic and a wild dream.
The old-fashioned hedgerows and pastures provide their bees with a selection of nectars that give a true taste of the Devon Countryside. In fact, all the planting on site is bee and pollinator friendly, meaning that the new Quince Honey Farm has an exciting place in the natural world, as it is the first known gardens and woodland in the UK planted specifically for bees.
“We are absolutely delighted to have won Taste of the West‘s Champion Sweet Preserve Award. Quince Honey Farm is a family run business who have a fantastic team and we are all thrilled to be the overall Champion with our Devon Honey.” Helen Persson, Brand Manager says.
Quince Honey have gone on to win Gold awards in 2024 for both their Devon Spring Honey and their Devon Honey Complete Comb. They’ve even won a Gold award for their cafe this year, which judges described as “… a really lovely, interactive, and educational place that would make for a wonderful day out for families and those interested in learning more about bees. It would be easy to spend an afternoon here starting with lunch then a wander about the place and grounds.”
