The sleepy village of Crudwell in North Wiltshire is about to get its first taste of the East when a new Indian kitchen and bar opens next week.
Sasa’s will take over the restaurant at Crudwell’s Pettifers Free House Hotel from Monday, 19 August, on a permanent basis. Business owner, Foyez Rahman says the aim is to introduce the village to “a fusion of two different food cultures resulting in a contemporary style, merging Asian flair and flavours with fast-moving UK and European culinary trends.”
“It is a great opportunity to showcase more of what we can do. My uncle, Khaled Miah, is an excellent chef. He has been cooking great Indian food in the area for 38 years, since 1980, and before that, he was at a renowned restaurant that set the trend in West Kensington,” Foyez explained.
Foyez and his uncle also run Asha, a similar restaurant in The Crown, Cerney Wick, another village not far from Crudwell, situated at the Cotswold lakes.
Foyez Rahman and head chef Khaled are looking forward to opening the doors to their new eatery. Foyez said: “There will be roti wraps, burgers, or barbecued paneer on the menu alongside charcoal sizzlers of roasted king prawns and charred peppers. There are samosas, perfect for sharing, and East meets West tacos. Of course, for the traditionalist, there will be dansak, madras, and biryani. Chef specials include the Korma Sutra, The Birthday Suit, and Take Your Cloves Off. It is a fun menu, and we look forward to sharing it with Crudwell and the surrounding area. We will, of course, be offering takeaways as well.”
