Colwith Farm Distillery unveils Cornwall’s first authentic blackcurrant liqueur

This autumn, Colwith Farm Distillery proudly introduces the Aval Dor Cornish Blackcurrant Vodka Liqueur, an exceptional creation that marks a first for both the distillery and Cornwall. In a world where most flavoured spirits are made with mass-produced ethanol and artificial compounds, Aval Dor Cornish Blackcurrant Liqueur stands apart – crafted with passion, authenticity, and a deep connection to the local land and traditional methods. Trust us – you can taste the difference!

What makes this liqueur truly special is the unique collaboration between Jordan, Head Distiller at Colwith Farm, and his grandfather, Tim Turner, a lifelong farmer from the neighbouring Lower Roselath Farm. Tim, a devoted steward of the land for decades, has grown the very fruits that form the heart of this liqueur. Together, Jordan and Tim have transformed these locally grown, hand-picked blackcurrants, blackberries, guelder, and rosehip berries into a rich, luxurious spirit – a first of its kind for the region.

“It’s been an honour to create this liqueur alongside my grandpa,” says Jordan. “Every bottle reflects our shared passion for quality and craftsmanship. The fruits he grows are bursting with flavour, and it’s been incredible to turn them into something truly special.”

Crafted in small batches, the Aval Dor Cornish Blackcurrant Liqueur begins with the distillery’s award-winning ‘plough-to-bottle’ vodka. The fresh, seasonal berries, all grown within half a mile of the distillery, are added to the vodka and allowed to slowly release their natural, vibrant flavours over time. The result is a liqueur that captures the true essence of Cornwall – pure, unadulterated, and rich with the taste of the land.

For Tim, who has farmed since childhood, the collaboration with his grandson is deeply meaningful. “Working with Jordan on this project has been a joy, and seeing the fruits of my labour transformed into a world-class product is immensely satisfying,” he says.

Infused with the bounty of Cornwall’s hedgerows, this luxurious liqueur is perfect for sipping neat, pairing with desserts, or drizzling over Cornish vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.

Aval Dor Cornish Blackcurrant Vodka Liqueur is more than just a drink – it’s a celebration of Cornwall’s natural beauty, family traditions, and the art of slow, careful craftsmanship.
