Two celebrated Cotswold Indian restaurants have made significant contributions to charity.
In the run-up to the festive period, the new Sasa’s Indian Kitchen and Bar, based in Crudwell, celebrated National Curry Week by donating 20% of its profits to the Malmesbury charity, Heals. The restaurant, located in Pettifers Free House Hotel, raised £200 for the small charity, which supports individuals and families in Malmesbury and the surrounding villages who may be in poverty, vulnerable, or disadvantaged.
Foyez Rahman of Sasa’s was aware of Heals’ work and wanted to do something positive before Christmas. “The hotel has always done its bit for Heals, so I knew when locating my restaurant here how important it was to join in and support such a cause, even though our business is in its infancy,” said Sasa’s owner, Foyez Rahman. “Hopefully next year we will be able to double this total,” he added.

Indian Rasoi of Cirencester, the popular Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant situated on Dollar Street, hosted a special charity dinner for the Cirencester Food Bank, raising £200 through tickets and donations.
“We are deeply grateful to Roman and the team at the Indian Rasoi for their generous donation raised from their Foodbank fundraiser,” said Cirencester Food Bank’s Anton Wynn. “This contribution comes at a crucial time, as winter presents significant challenges for local people facing hardship due to increasing costs, which result in households going without the essentials. The funds will help us provide essential support to those in need, ensuring they have access to food and warmth during this difficult season. Thank you to the Indian Rasoi, and to all who turned out for the event, for your incredible support and for making a positive impact in supporting those most in need.”
Cirencester Foodbank is supported by The Trussell Trust, which supports a nationwide network of foodbanks, providing emergency food and support to people facing hardship. Foodbanks in their network provided over three million food supplies to people in crisis.
