Daavat breakfast naan and akuri eggs are not a regular on most breakfast menus but at Pettifers Freehouse Hotel in the village of Crudwell they are and are proving to be a ‘hot’ choice amongst guests.
Sasa’s Indian Kitchen and Bar took over the restaurant of the hotel that sits on the Wiltshire, Gloucestershire border, back in August of last year and are now putting their own take on British classic breakfast dishes, including the ‘Full English’, that can now be changed for a Big Bombay Breakfast that besides the usual offering of sausages, mushrooms and bacon also consists of masala beans, Indian hash, tarka dal and fried naan bread.
The taste of the east continues with akuri eggs, a scrambled egg but made with a range of fresh, ground spices, with chopped chilli, all served on a freshly baked naan bread.
Foyez Rahman is the proprietor of Sasa’s and explained: “Breakfast is something we have always wanted to play with and the hotel owners were behind the idea. Bringing in the spices can also provide healthy alternatives to the use of lots of oil and frying.
“I would like to go further and really play with the fusion, perhaps develop the famous kedgeree dish. We are also now open to everyone, not just hotel guests so if you would like to give the new menu a try, by all means come in, breakfast is served 07:30-10:30, and at weekends and Bank Holidays, 8:00-11:00am, we are also open in the evening with our Sasa’s menu and we can also do takeaway.”
The menus can be found on the website. To book a table or to order a takeaway please call 01666 815060.
