Wiltshire pub invites dog owners on charity walkies

The White Horse Inn, Compton Bassett, is excited to share it will be hosting a series of community dog walks, with the first in aid of Leash of Life. Kicking off with the first walk on Saturday 5 April 2025, the aim of the initiative is to pawfectly bring together local dog walkers for a fun, social outing within one of Wiltshire’s areas of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) for a morning of fresh air, exercise, and local knowledge on the local area.

Each walking group will meet at 9.30am at The White Horse Inn to kick-start the outing with homemade bacon baps and a hot drink for a suggested donation of £5, or more, with the proceeds going to the dog rescue charity, Leash of Life. The dog walk will leave the pub at 10am for a four-mile excursion around the stunning countryside surrounding Compton Bassett, back in time for 12pm should walkers like to stay for a spot of lunch – dogs welcome too, of course!

The White Horse Inn’s General Manager, Ash Harlow, says he’s looking forward to leading the group walks. Speaking of the initiative, he says: “We are really looking forward to our first dog walk in April. We trialled a couple last year and they proved really popular. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people and learn about the local area which is both incredibly beautiful and seeded in rich history.

“As I adopted one of my dogs from Leash of Life, and with the pub being very dog-friendly, we thought this was a great way to give back to a local charity that does such incredible work in and around Wiltshire – so all donations welcome! This is a lovely opportunity to get out and about with the dogs and give back to a fantastic charity in the process. We’re looking forward to hosting more dog walks with special guests throughout 2025.”

For interested parties wanting to register their interest in the upcoming dog walk, the award-winning pub has set up a Facebook event page to join.

To attend the charity dog walk, a donation of £5 – or more – is kindly suggested for a hot drink and bacon bap – a vegetarian option can be available upon request – which will be donated to Leash of Life.
