Falmouth’s Oyster Festival returns refreshed for 2025

Falmouth’s Oyster Festival is set to return to Events Square from the 9-12th October 2025 – with a refreshed brand identity and renewed programme of events.

The beloved free-to-attend festival offers a four day celebration of the native Fal Oyster and signals the start of the oyster dredging season.

Devoted to the mighty mollusc, the festival also serves to spotlight the traditional methods of harvesting, using only sail and oar on Falmouth’s working boats – a practise which local oysterman have perfected for over a century.

Cornish brand consultant Jaz Cottam worked closely with the festival organisers to develop a refreshed identity that truly embodies the ethos of the celebrations and the uniqueness of Falmouth as the only oyster fishery in Europe, if not the world, where such traditional harvesting methods must be used.

The festival’s striking new brand identity puts Falmouth’s oystermen first, with a traditional working boat forming the lead for the refreshed logo; alongside an updated font and colour palette including a ‘squeeze of lemon’ yellow, ‘Flushing green’, ‘sail canvas’ cream and ‘salt spray’ blue – being integrated across all the brand touchpoints.

After many successful years as one of Cornwall’s biggest and most well attended specialist food events, the organisers postponed the 2024 celebrations to reassess the offering and safeguard it for future generations.

Guided by the newly formed Oyster Festival Trustee Board, the revitalised festival format will see proceedings return to Events Square and expand with an enhanced offering at Falmouth’s Princess Pavilions too.

Visitors can expect a full programme of returning favourites, such as the Oyster Race, chef demonstrations and the hotly contested shucking competition, alongside new food & drink masterclasses, feasts, live music, family-friendly activities and much more.

Further information, plus chef and music line-up announcements are to follow in the coming months.
