Calling the next generation of culinary stars!

Visit Exmoor is on the lookout for rising culinary talent to take centre stage in two standout events that champion skill, creativity, and the incredible larder on our doorstep. Could you be the next big name in the kitchen?

Exmoor Young Chef returns for its fourth inspiring year on Saturday 4th October 2025, offering 12–17-year-olds the opportunity to showcase their talents, impress professional chefs, and take their first step towards a future in food.  New for this year is the Exmoor Aspiring Chef competition on Monday 20th October 2025 will spotlight 18–24-year-olds already working in kitchens, giving early stage career chefs the chance to be seen and celebrated.

Both competitions ask entrants to plan and prepare a three-course meal for two people, costing under £25, and showcasing at least two locally sourced ingredients from Greater Exmoor artisan producers. Whether it’s Exmoor lamb, local venison, coastal seafood, or homegrown produce, this is the chance to put the region’s flavour on the plate and get your name on the map.

Finalists will cook live at West Somerset College, Minehead. Exmoor Young Chef candidates will be mentored in advance by experienced local chefs. The event  organised by Visit Exmoor with support from Butlins, Exmoor National Park, and Bridgwater & Taunton College and Bidfood all  working in partnership to inspire young people, nurture skills, and promote careers in hospitality across the region.

“Exmoor’s food and drink is second to none, and it’s young people who will carry that story forward,” said Visit Exmoor’s Max Lawrence “These competitions aren’t just about cooking. They’re about unlocking potential, gaining confidence, and recognizing that a career in hospitality and the visitor economy can be exciting, creative and full of opportunity.”

Closing date for applications:

  • 1st July 2025  Exmoor Young Chef
  • 1st September 2025 Exmoor Aspiring Chef
