The Food WorksSW, the South West’s leading food and drink innovation centre, has announced the launch of its brand new professional Photography Studio.
The new offering is designed to support start‑ups, SMEs and established producers in capturing high‑quality product visuals for branding, packaging, marketing and e‑commerce. It will also be used by hospitality businesses looking to showcase their dishes.
Located in-house at its Weston‑super‑Mare site, the studio is equipped with a working kitchen which also includes lighting and photography essentials.
“High quality photography makes a huge difference,” says Simon Gregory, Director at The Food WorksSW. “We’re enabling producers and hospitality businesses to allow their products and dishes to stand out in a competitive market in a cost effective way.”
To coincide with the studio’s opening, the centre is running a competition to win a free day’s use of the brand new studio and one of their development kitchens. The lucky winner will benefit from an all inclusive package, with equipment and appliances included in the prize. For competition details, how to enter and and Ts & Cs, go to www.foodworks-sw.co.uk.
The Photography Studio complements the centre’s existing bakery, dairy and drinks development kitchens and technical advisory services, and has already hosted its first booking with Somerset-based food company The Field Doctor. The science-led frozen food brand recently used the studio’s facilities to shoot photography of its new Eat Well, Live Well Programme to support breast cancer patients.
Alex Brooks, Co-Founder at The Field Doctor commented, “The set up at Food Works was brilliant and the team were really helpful and supportive. It had everything we needed for both video and stills set ups. I’m sure we’ll use it again in the future.”
This initiative dovetails with The Food WorksSW recent launch of the West of England Food & Drink Support Initiative, which offers free technical, labelling, HACCP and product development guidance to regional businesses.
The Photography Studio is now available for bookings on an hourly, half-day or full-day basis. Existing tenants, members of the West of England scheme, and new customers can enquire via enquiries@foodworks-sw.co.uk or the main centre line at 01934 287710.
Since opening in 2020, The Food WorksSW has supported 300 businesses, helping them to develop, diversify and grow their product and menu offerings, and aims to help many more in the coming years through enhanced facilities and resources.
Created by North Somerset Council and operated by the Future Food Partnership CIC, a not-for-private-profit Community Interest Company, The Food WorksSW provides start-ups, established companies and hospitality businesses with the experience and equipment they need to grow and innovate. Located in Weston-super-Mare, less than 30 minutes from Bristol, the centre is the only one in the South West.
The centre has also recently announced its first ever partnership opportunity that will give businesses the chance to support the team, provide advice and guidance to both existing and emerging food and drink brands, and become an integral part of the country’s food, drink and hospitality scene.
